Activity
Create a cozy reading spot outside under a tree, on the patio, in a hammock, or even inside near the window. Children can make the spot extra comfy by choosing plush animals, blankets, and pillows to cuddle with as they read. Select some seasonal stories from your collection or head to the library to pick out books that your child is interested in.

A variety of materials will allow you to create a cozy reading area. Use what you already have on hand! Some suggestions:

Skill Building
Reading the same stories again and again builds familiarity, confidence, and word recognition as children begin to finish the lines on the pages. Reading outdoors in the fresh air can limit distractions from indoor toys and media.
