Activity
Bring in natural items from your yard, schoolyard, or other nearby green space to place in a bin of water. You can gather a few household items to experiment with, too. What sinks and what floats? Does water change the object temporarily, permanently, or not at all?
Materials
In addition to containers for water, you'll want to gather some items that will sink and others that will float. Some suggestions:
- Leaves
- Acorns
- Pinecones
- Shells
- Rocks
- Sticks
- Paper or cardboard
- Crayons
