Activity

Set blankets out on the grass or another soft spot for babies to lie and explore the nature they can see and touch. Talk about what they’re doing, “You’re touching the soft grass and it’s making you smile!” Point out things you notice, like an ant crawling across a leaf or tree branches swaying in the breeze.

Materials

A soft blanket or towel will make this activity cozier, but you can also do this without any materials. As always with babies, watch carefully so they do not ingest anything harmful.

Skill Building

Watching tiny creatures together supports co-regulation, focus, and shared attention. By narrating what you see, you are building your baby's vocabulary
